Tropofilia y reducción : sobre el papel de las figuras en la retórica

Abstract

En este trabajo me propongo reinvindicar el papel que juega el lenguaje figurado en el pensamiento filosófico. Para ello repasaré el modo en que la historia de la retórica fue relegando la lexis a mera ornamentación, sin sustancia especulativa. La retórica entendida como análisis de las figuras poético literarias está acompañada de la subestimación de las figuras. Quisiera, en este trabajo, revertir esa mirada. Para ello tomaré, a modo de muestra, dos autores que subrayan la relación entre tropos y pensamiento. En primer lugar tomaré la tesis radical de Nietzsche (el lenguaje es retórica, en el sentido de lenguaje figurado) y luego tomaré la tesis más matizada de Ricoeur según la cual la metáfora (como sinécdoque de retórica) tiene un poder desocultador, revelador, insoslayable e irreductible.

In this paper I propose to reinvindicate the role that figurative language plays in philosophical thought. For this I will review the way in which the history of rhetoric was relegating the lexis to mere ornamentation without speculative substance. The rhetoric understood as an analysis of poetic literary figures is accompanied by the underestimation of the figures. I would like, in this work, to reverse that look. For this I will take two authors that emphasize the relationship between tropes and thought. In the first place I will take the radical thesis of Nietzsche (the language is rhetorical, in the sense of figurative language) and then I will take Ricoeur's more nuanced thesis according to which the metaphor (as a synecdoche of rhetoric) has a revealing, unavoidable power and irreducible.

Neste trabalho proponho reivindicar o papel que a linguagem figurativa desempenha no pensamento filosófico. Para isso, revisarei o modo como a história da retórica relegou o léxico à mera ornamentação, sem substância especulativa. A retórica entendida como análise de figuras poético-literárias vem acompanhada da subestimação das figuras. Gostaria, neste trabalho, de reverter essa visão. Para isso, tomarei como amostra dois autores que destacam a relação entre tropos e pensamento. Em primeiro lugar, tomarei a tese radical de Nietzsche (a linguagem é retórica, no sentido de linguagem figurada) e depois tomarei a tese mais matizada de Ricoeur, segundo a qual a metáfora (como sinédoque da retórica) tem um poder revelador, revelador, inevitável e irredutível.
